The Topic Connection
I picked this topic because I am very interested in learning more about all the careers out there in the IT field, especially for entry-level. When I think about IT, I sometimes think about the IT people at my job who fix computer issues. I know there are more careers in the It Department, but I want to determine what route I should take after completing my degree. How do I choose the best IT career for me? If I had a specific job in mind, how would that be the best route for me? These are some of the things that run through my mind when I think about the career aspect of being in IT. When reading through Continual service improvement manager book, they talked about different careers such as service Level Managers, Service owners, Process Owners and more. I also think that once I get my degree, I should aim for my master’s degree to further my knowledge to get a higher position, or do I get work experience before returning to school? I want to know this is why I am interested in learning more about the career fields IT has and the best routes to take.
The History Of Computers
When it comes to the history of computers, a lot of us think about the late 70s or early 80s as when computers were first introduced into society, but computers have been a part of our lives since 1822 by Charles Babbage. From then on, many people have created different versions of what we would call a computer. One is the ENIAC machine created by John W. Mauchly and J. Presper Eckert at the University of Pennsylvania. The ENIAC machine (Electrical Numerical Integrator and Calculator) used 10 Decimal digits instead of binary ones. Since then, computers have evolved from big tower server-looking machines into smaller devices and other technology devices that connect us all over the world today, such as (Laptops, Desktops, Smartphones, and Tablets).
Software & Hardware
With my chosen tech topic, I chose I.T Careers; this topic relies heavily on the major hardware components and functions of a modern computer system because, in each I.T career out there, you are going to use a computer, laptop or, tablet to complete any task at hand from cyber security attacks, fixing a tech issue like a glitch in the system and more, with more and more jobs becoming work from home or using computers.
From the article Tech Topic the term I.T was created in 1958 in a Harvard business review. "Over the last decade, a new technology has begun to take hold in American business, one so new that its significance is still difficult to evaluate ... The new technology does not yet have a single established name. We shall call it information technology."
In this article, they also speak about how I.T Careers are no longer just about installing hardware or software, solving computer issues, or controlling who can access a particular system; they can do a lot of things from maintaining service levels, security, and connectivity to ensure business continuity and longevity research, implement and manage new technologies to accommodate changing business needs; and more. All of these tasks show how I.T careers rely on major software & hardware components and functions of today's technology.
Program Languages
For I.T. careers, programming languages and program execution methods go hand in hand as more and more software is created in cases for the need for more I.T. professionals.
When in these I.T careers, you would need to know the different programming languages such as Java, Python, CSS, and more, from making computer programs, website coding, and more. Any I.T professional needs to learn these different program languages to complete the task at hand, which is why the two go hand in hand.
Conclusion
When it comes to I.T careers there will always be a need for these careers as technology continues to grow and become more advance from coding to make a great website for different companies, to preventing cyber attacks from hackers. The I.T Career will continue to grow and be a dire need for many companies
